Review:
Although Chloe is officially off USC's waitlist and headed to California at the end of the summer, it's hard for her to believe the future she's dreamed about is within her grasp.  After all, she got in off the waitlist so is she really good enough to pursue an education and career in animation?  It could just be a hobby while she carries on the family business in Manila...she's waffling back and forth enough on her own and too make matters worse her auntie and father have begun setting her up on increasingly awkward kaishaos (arranged dates).  Love isn't on her summer to do list, especially if it keeps getting her stuck at church next to her best friend's brother or trying not to die while running a 5k with the local sports hero.  Chloe has to remain focused and find confidence to pursue her dream and love would just get in the way...right?
VERDIT is that this book is worth the minute it takes to get into it.  It took a moment for me to get sucked in, but it really picked up a few chapters in.  I really loved Chloe and watching her navigate dating as a young Chinese/Filipino girl living in Manila getting Kaishoa-ed by her Aunt and Father and getting ready to go to college at USC.  Love the representation, love the father/daughter relationship, and the friendship with Cia.

Annotation:
Officially off the USC waitlist and headed to California at the end of the summer, she's already a bundle of nerves so the last thing Chloe is looking for is a reason to stay in Manila.  Unfortunately her auntie and father don't seem to have gotten the message as they set her up on a series of increasingly awkward kaishaos (arranged dates).
