Library Cat Rating Scale
Library Cat Reviews & Rating Scale
Reviewing books is a good way to make yourself think critically about the materials you have just read. When developing a rating scale and reviewing books, I think it is important to add a personal touch. I have combined two of my favorite things, books and cats, to create a straightforward rating scale that is also fun. This is a system that I developed when working as an Information Assistant for Teen Services at the Bronx Library Center. For my displays there, I would boil my recommendations down into one or two sentences, just enough to capture a teens interest and make them want to pick the book up or come chat about it a little bit more. It use to only go up to three cats, but I revised the system for this blog so I could include more books!
Although I no longer work solely with Children and Teens, I continue to actively read and review books written for these audiences. This blog will offer more detailed reviews as well as additional materials to look at if you are a fan of the book!
