Book Quote:
"I stare straight ahead.  I can't look into his eyes.  Those eyes hold the secrets of where he's been for over three years.  Of what he might have gone through.  I just try to breathe."

Review:
What do you do when your brother or maybe best friend goes missing?  In the three years since Sam Walsh disappeared, his sister Beth and friend Josh have tried to answer that question.  Each dealt with Sam's disappearance in different ways, but it is only when Sam is unexpectedly returned that they are forced to confront their memories and guilt over the day of his disappearance.  While the media and community want to see nothing but a happy ending for Sam, family and friends must face the fact that the Sam rescued from captivity is not the one they remember.  Gone is the rambunctious, carefree, and sometimes arrogant boy they knew and in his place is a sad and quiet teen who has faced horrors neither Beth nor Sam feels truly capable of understanding.  Told from the alternating viewpoints of Beth and Sam this is a captivating read that looks at the often unseen side of a seemingly miraculous event.
VERDICT is that this is a good read for older teens. Wilson takes a look at several tough topics and asks readers to reconsider misconceptions about kidnapping, sexual abuse, and the navigation of relationships during a time of duress.
