Review:
Miles Morales is your average New York City teen, lives in Brooklyn, has old-school parents, likes chilling with his friend Ganke and playing video games. Except, he's also Spider-Man. Or he was, but this year, he's taking a break. Miles's spidey-senses have been acting up lately and to make matters worse his scholarship at the prestigious boarding school, Brooklyn Visions Academy, is on the line. He's always loved going to BVA and knows it's his ticket to a better life outside the Brooklyn neighborhood he was raised in. However, his history teacher, a wack job who recently started lecturing on the "benefits" of slavery and praising Confederacy ideology, has it out for him. Miles can't help but suspect there's more than meets the eye when it comes to Mr. Chamberlain. When he uncovers a sinister plot that extends beyond his school to threaten his community and maybe even the world, Miles will have to decide whether to stick to his plan and try to save himself or risk everything to save his friends and family.

VERDICT is that this is a SUPER superhero novel. Jason Reynolds writes a real and relatable origin story that will have readers reconsidering everything they thought they knew about Spider-Man. It is a book for both hardcore superhero fans and the casual admirer. Miles Morales is half-black, half-Puerto Rican, and all teenager, with a side of Spiderman.
